New Website

We have just begun work on the new National Website. If you are reading this, it means the project was a success and you are now on that new website. Our goals for the project include:A Fresh Look
Easier Navigation
Global Site Search
Faster Updates
The new approach uses Google Sites for most of the content, then uses Google App Scripts to connect to Google Docs for dynamic content. This approach moves the responsibility for software maintenance and patches from our own webmaster over to Google, people who are very good at keeping sites up and running. Our webmaster will then be able to spend more time on the visual design and content organization. In addition, the content itself can be maintained directly by the actual content owners. Gone are the days of Local Coordinators sending information about their local events to our webmaster and then waiting. Instead, each Local Coordinator is now allowed to edit their event page on this site directly, no waiting. The same is true of every page on this site, with individual page owners given both authority and responsibility for their pages, removing the traditional webmaster bottleneck almost entirely.
This initial version of the new site, for the most part, is a copy of the old site, but watch as it quickly changes now that we effectively have hundreds of webmasters!
