The first ever Kearney Area Pagan Pride Day was held on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at the Amphitheater at Cottonmill Lake State Recreation Area in Kearney, NE.  The event began at 2:00 pm and concluded around 5:00 pm.

The 49 attendees had the opportunity to visit with some local Pagan groups as well as socialize with one and other.  A group ritual focusing on bringing our communities together was the highlight of the day.  All enjoyed a potluck meal and many goodies provided by the Kearney Area Pagan Pride (KAPP).  Face painting and a raffle were also parts of the event.

With the help of 12 volunteers, the day was very successful in raising monetary funds for a local charity.  In total, $106 was raised and it was donated to the Kearney/Buffalo County CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children).  Three people also applied to become volunteers for the organization. 

The mission of the KAPP is to educate the public about Paganism and other forms of Earth-based spirituality with focus on the diversity of religious expression in our community in an effort to bring about harmony amongst all spiritual paths.  The primary way the group accomplishes its mission is to hold an annual Pagan Pride Day event.  Starting in December, the group will begin planning for the 2014 event.
