Augusta Pagan Pride 2014 Canceled

The 2014 Augusta Event was canceled by the Local Coordinators (LCs) in Augusta.  Planned for October 4, National was notified on June 24 that the nearby Atlanta PPD had published their event for the same date, and we immediately began to work with them to resolve the conflict.   On June 29th the current Local Coordinators (LCs) for the Augusta event resigned, and though that very day we were able to reach a resolution with Atlanta, moving their event to another date, the Augusta LCs stood by their resignations.

Under those circumstances, and according to the recommendation of the Augusta LCs, we released Atlanta to go forward with the October 4th date.  I am certain that the situation was completely unintentional on the part of Atlanta, and want to make sure everyone knows they took responsibility and were moving their event to make way for the Augusta event.  The current LCs of the Augusta event made the decision to cancel in spite of this.

And on that note, I want to make sure everyone respects their decision to cancel.  Planning and hosting a Pagan Pride Day event is difficult and often frustrating, and the LC's of the Augusta event have been working very hard on this since last year.  They have chosen not to move forward, and this is their decision to make, for whatever reason, and we should all respect that.  We are all volunteers, after all.

With all that said, though difficult, if you can see it through, the results can be very rewarding, and the friendships you develop in the course of planning these events are well worth it. If you are interested in trying to make this event happen, please contact me by email,,  or by phone, 919-283-2784.
